Now that a new year has dawned, bright and cold, we get to dig into all the exciting products that we’ll be carrying with us into 2025. Don’t like your ancient hairdryer? This is the perfect time to get yourself a new one! Been living in that top you bought in the sales at the end of last year? Get it in two more colours, why don’t you? The start of a new year also serves as a reminder to clean out all those old, probably unusable bottles in your skincare cabinet and start a wishlist that will work for your skin in 2025.
Let’s take a look at what “skincare trends” are predicted for the coming year, do a quick “in and out” list (it’s all the rage on Instagram) and see what I have on my skincare wishlist for this year.

My skincare wishlist
1. Lancôme Génifique Ultimate Recovery Serum
Winter has been hard on my skin, so I need a serum that will penetrate deeply and help to repair the surface damage as well. This one from Lancôme delivers both and even claims to improve the skin barrier within an hour of using! It also claims to begin minimising visible skin damage in as little as a week of continuous use – yes, please! The serum is said to help with radiance, fine lines, enlarged pores, and uneven or rough complexions.
2. fresh Rose Deep Hydration Moisturiser
There is nothing in the world as good as a good moisturiser! I’m desperate to get my hands on this gorgeous, rich, deeply hydrating face moisturiser from fresh to help my dull skin beat the winter blues. There’s hyaluronic acid in the formula, which has become an ingredient of note thanks to its ability to retain far more moisture than its own mass, and the damask rose, which strengthens your skin barrier. Sounds like just what I need. Use this cream daily (morning and evening) and the brand says you’ll see results (long-lasting hydration, improved skin barrier and a plump, dewy complexion) within four weeks.

3. Versed Weekend Glow Daily Brightening Solution
A brightening solution will perfectly complement the above two products! Versed is a budget-friendly brand that really delivers results. Dead skin cells are sloughed off and your skin looks a lot brighter and clearer after a few weeks of use. This is a particularly good choice if your skin is on the oilier side, as it prevents you from becoming prone to breakouts. Pop a little bit onto cleansed skin before your moisturiser and you’re away.
4. Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment
I too am a sucker for great packaging and a good marketing campaign, but thankfully it seems to be that Rhode is good at making skincare products too! This American brand has exploded worldwide and is the first, in my experience, to create a simple lip gloss that actually treats your lips while you wear it. The lipgloss is nourishing and infused with peptides that keep your mouth looking youthful. It’s also non-sticky and doesn’t drip! What’s not to love?
5. Byroe Peach Clarifying Clay Mask
Everyone loves an at-home spa night! Adding an extra special “treat” face mask to the event just makes it so much more special. I’ve been dying for this peach clarifying mask from Byroe, because it seems to be such a multi-tasker that will cut out the need for a number of other masks. This product is so much more than just a trending item! You apply the mask and wait for 10 minutes to let the clay draw out the impurities in your skin, absorb any excess oil, minimise the appearance of your pores, and leave your face feeling smooth.

Skincare trends for 2025
- Global influences. Thanks to social media platforms, we’re able to see different skincare options and trends from all over the world. This globalisation is set to continue with many skincare lovers even opting for “beauty-driven travel” to skincare hubs like Korea.
- Farm to face. Sounds scary? It’s not! In fact, it’s the opposite of scary. Fresh, plant-based ingredients are going to be huge this year.
- Overnight treatments. Since your skin does its best work overnight, it only makes sense to lather on your richest treatments to give it a helping hand while you get your beauty sleep.
My skincare dos and don’ts for the year
To round off our skincare chat, let’s take a look at what some of the experts tell us are the biggest skincare dos and don’ts.
Dos
- Add an antioxidant to your routine. Antioxidants help repair existing damage and prevent more, and they can assist greatly in minimising the early signs of ageing. Via licensed aesthetician and wellness enthusiast Sara Botta and Beauty Tips by Kiss.
- Use an LED mask at home to assist with skin healing. This kind of light also promotes collagen production and helps to improve skin hydration! ViaDr Jonathan Kentley and Refinery 29.
Don’ts
- Don’t assume that skincare is one size fits all, because it’s not! Take the time to get to know your own skin and what will work for you. Via licensed aesthetician and wellness enthusiast Sara Botta and Beauty Tips By Kiss.
- Don’t forget your sunblock! You need to wear an SPF every day (winter or summer, indoors or out) and it doesn’t have to be an outrageously expensive one to work well. Via aesthetician Alicia Lartey and Refinery 29.
